The Wine Glass

Swirling, whirling, and arcing around the rounded glass like a flourish of fabric in an open room; this is the sensation of the first pour of a freshly uncorked bottle of wine into the classic Wine Glass. One of the oldest of drinks and the most recognizable of glassware. This stemmed glass fits into your palm and the quality of shifts with temperature and with time.

The Wine Glass can vary from a simply rounded bottom that rises to the evenly wide rim such as a White Wine Glass to a bulbous base that narrows to the rim, giving ample surface space for a Red Wine Glass. The Wine Glass has all the qualities of both leisure and luxury.

For this meal pairing I take you to a trip to the Greek islands to enjoy a rosé served alongside Skordostoumbi: A wonderfully garlicky eggplant bake, with a side of polenta and a Mediterranean salad. Fully vegetarian and fully delicious.
