The Roof Crop

Hey guys, it's Marissa and once again I am here to tell you all about an amazing new venue. Last week Maya and I set out to visit The Roof Crop. Created by founder Molly Meyer, The Roof Crop (also known as TRC) is a company run on the passion for the environment and the passion to bring healthy organic food back into the Chicago community. Their theory is simple: grow food on roofs. From fruits to edible flowers the TRC does it all, they not only have 30,000 acres of roof top gardens across the city of Chicago but they also specialize in apothecary produces such as organic soaps and bath salts. With the help of Omni Ecosystems (also founded by Molly Meyer) TRC sets out to find companies who want to give back to the community and help the environment.

So how does it work?

After Omni Ecosystems installs the roof top gardens, TRC then maintains and harvests the produce from the gardens. This system works hand in hand leaving the community nothing but net benefits such as creating new jobs for Chicagoans, help create access to sustainable local food, and creating a green thumb in Chicago.

TRC also helps connect their community through renting out their amazing space.  With exposed brick and plenty of natural light, TRC's venue space offers the perfect look for any birthday party, office event or wedding. The venue can be used for cocktail style (fits 80), presentation style (fits 60) or seated dinner (fits 56) The venue also includes a roof deck with a perfect view of the Chicago skyline, as well as a beautiful roof top garden (fits 60 standing).
